    Carmel Valianti believes renewable energy resources are the key to the future.She is the founder of Help Save Our Environment, an international student environmental group, and also project director of Solar Now, an environmental organization that advocates and educates about renewable energy through college internships, student conferences, teacher workshops, and curriculum for prekindergarten through grade 12.It also supports research into renewable energy sources around the world.

    Under Valianti's direction Solar Now has been honored for its excellence.In 1997, the Interstate Renewable Energy Council presented the organization with its National Renewable Energy Recognition Award to honor its significant contribution toward improving the quality of the environment in New England.

    Valianti has organized several international environmental conferences in addition to serving as a consultant to the United Nations Environmental Programme, private electric utility corporations, and school systems across the United States.Valianti received the Environmental Protection Agency Presidential Commendation from President Bush in 1990.

    About her work teaching thousands of students and teachers about renewable energy, Valianti admits, "Children are my passion."For the past few years, she has worked to educate and empower students in the field of environmental education through after-school science programs in North Shore schools and through the Massachusetts State Science Fair Association.She has mentored younger students to help them pursue their educational dreams and assisted disadvantaged youths in navigating the college application and acceptance process.

    Valianti has made an indelible impression on the lives of many, and her efforts to improve the quality and care of our environment inspires others to do the same.
