  Burnaby's Michael Valiante had another top 10 finish on the Rolex Grand Am auto racing circuit last Friday.

  Valiante, a native of Vancouver, B.C., joins the SunTrust Racing effort with 31 career Rolex Series starts under his belt during the past three seasons.In 2007, as co-driver of the No. 19 Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates entry, Valiante recorded a career-best second-place finish at Iowa Speedway and six top-10 finishes in all over 13 events.Prior to arriving on the Rolex Series scene in 2005, he rose through the open-wheel ranks as a perennial championship contender and multiple race-winner in Champ Car's Formula Atlantic and Barber Dodge development series.Valiante made his Champ Car debut in 2004 at Mexico City driving for Walker Racing.

  During the three-day testing session that involved other Atlantics teams, including Lynx Racing that sponsors Burnaby's Michael Valiante, De Vellis posted times using last year's Atlantic car that were on par to those put up by drivers in the new Swift 014.a chassis that are supposed to be faster than the old Swift 008.
  
  "Things went really well and kind of kindled the thought of putting our entire focus on Toyota Atlantic this year," De Vellis said.
  
  The team also realized that it may spread itself too thin if it tried to race in all nine Star Mazda races plus run a full Mazda testing program in addition to testing for Toyota Atlantic and racing in three Atlantic races.

  Grand-Am Daytona Prototype standout Michael Valiante will represent the Vancouver, B.C. based team in the Masters Division of the event.He will be joined by Snap-on Stars of Karting Series regulars David Jurca and Hayden Duerson in the Karter Division of the event.All three drivers will be aboard an Italkart - Parilla Leopard package.
  
  Michael Valiante spent 2007 racing for the Chip Ganassi with Felix Sabates team in the Grand-Am Daytona Prototype Series.He also drove for the Ganassi operation in the NASCAR Busch Series in a one-off drive at the Montreal round.Michael has a strong background in karting ad established himself as one of the top North American karters in the late 1990's by winning numerous championships and scholarship shootouts.He then went on to success in the Skip Barber Regional, Barber Dodge Pro, and Toyota Atlantic Championships.Valiante made several starts in the ChampCar World Series in 2004 and 2005 before moving to Grand-Am full-time in 2006 with the Finlay Motorsports team.
  
  The Italian Motors team is owned by Michael's parents Claudio and Bev.Michael is active in the management of the team when his racing schedule allows."I am really looking forward to the PRI show.I always look forward to having the opportunity to get back in to a kart and race," stated Valiante.
