Mesa resident Cathy Valenzuela, who was brought on board March 1, is president of East Valley operations.

Within 30 days the bank plans to lease space somewhere between Alma School and Greenfield roads to house the East Valley office, Valenzuela said.

"I'm really anticipating probably in the next four to six months having it up and running," she said.
    ...
The East Valley office will be targeting professionals and businesses in Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Apache Junction, Queen Creek and the Williams Gateway area, Valenzuela said.

"I think the East Valley is poised for huge growth," she said."We've seen tremendous residential development out there, and that always is going to bring businesses.I'm hoping that along the Loop 202 we're going to start seeing a corridor of light-industrial and business development follow that great path of being able to have quick access to anywhere else in the Valley."

Williams Gateway also is going to become a "huge mecca" for business development in the next few years as more people start recognizing the benefit of having that airstrip there and "and turning it into a Scottsdale Airpark kind of scenario," Valenzuela said.

Valenzuela began her banking career with Valley National Bank of Arizona, which became Bank One Arizona.

She served as a business banking center manager and credit administrator at Bank One, then left in 1998 to become a commercial relationship manager at Johnson Bank, Arizona.
