Armarda's chief executive, Mr Graham Valentine, said the liberalisation of China's banking industry - after which foreign banks will be allowed in - is due to take place on Jan 1, 2007.

The company works with banks to implement systems to help them manage such information as loans.

In addition, Armarda will assist banks with installing and maintaining their automated teller machines.

Mr Valentine, a Hewlett-Packard veteran, said that the potential market is huge with some 300,000 bank branches in China - a number which exceeds the combined number in the United States, Germany and Japan.

He added that the reason for listing is: 'It raises our profile and it means we are more likely to be invited to bid for contracts.'

Three million offer shares are being offered to the public, while 57 million placement shares will be placed out.Of the placement tranche, 3.5 million will be offered through the website www.ePublicOffer.com
