Christine Valente, an Eastchester PTA member who attended the announcement, said she appreciated the approach.It addresses the problem of children who may know they are not supposed to get into cars with strangers but may find it difficult to disobey an adult who demands that they do.

"They are strong enough to make these decisions, that they will not get in trouble, they have done the right thing," said Valente, past president of the Eastchester Special Education PTA and a member of the PTAs at Waverly and Anne Hutchinson schools.
