After the sudden death of Bishop E.M. Urquhart, J. Shawn's grandafthger Bishop Abraham Urquhart resumed the pastorship of the "Temple"; on May 21, 2006, J. Shawn Urquhart was bestowed with the greatest honor of being publicly appointed to the office of Assistant Pastor of the Holy Temple Holiness Church.

Being under the direct leadership of his grandfather, Bishop Abraham Urquhart, Jake was nurtured at an early age in the working of ministry, administration, the studying of God's word and other various positions and ministries.

On July 28, 2002 the Highest Power School of Theology bestowed upon the Bishop an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity Degree.Following that auspicious occasion, Bishop, received an earned Doctorate of Ministry Degree from The Philips International Seminary & Prophetic College, Inc. on August 25, 2002.Bishop Urquhart joined Deliverance Temple of Truth Holy Churches, Inc and faithfully serves under the leadership of Bishop Ralph D. Graves.
