Richard Urman, M.D. with the help of colleagues and mentors, founded Health Literacy Now, Inc. after observing failures in communication between physicians and their patients.Indeed, patients need simple language when their physicians attempt to explain to them their diagnosis and treatments. To achieve this, physicians need to be taught effective communication skills and should be provided with the necessary resources to help reverse significant disparities in healthcare and improve health outcomes.
BOARD MEMBERS (Executive Committee):Richard Urman received M.D. degree from Harvard Medical School, and recently a Certificate in Administration and Management from Harvard. An anesthesiologist, Richard is actively involved with the state, national, and specialty medical societies and he has participated in various lobbying efforts on Capitol Hill to advocate for vital issues such as health insurance coverage, liability reform, and health literacy education.
