Daniel Urbas is a partner in our Montréal office.Mr. Urbas obtained his Civil Law and his Common Law degrees from McGill University and was called to the Québec Bar in 1992.He is also a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Law Society of British Columbia.Mr. Urbas obtained his B.A. from the University of Western Ontario.He is fluently bilingual in English and French.
Areas of Practice
A member of the firm's Commercial Litigation Group, Commercial Arbitration focus group, Mr. Urbas advises and represents clients in commercial and civil litigation, intellectual property & information technologies, administrative law, class actions and product liability matters.He is the regional leader of our Media Law Group and our Public Law Group in Montréal.
Professional Experience
Mr. Urbas appears before the provincial and federal courts, as well as before arbitration tribunals and various administrative tribunals.His practice involves trial and appellate advocacy as well as urgent and extraordinary applications.
Professional and Community Activities
Mr. Urbas is a member of the Québec Bar, the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Law Society of British Columbia and the Canadian Bar Association. He is also a member of the International Bar Association, American Bar Association, the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC), the International Trademark Association (INTA) and the Canadian IT Law Association.Daniel is also a registered trade-mark agent and serves as a member of the board of directors and editorial board for Les Cahiers de propriété intellectuelle.

Mr. Urbas is a Faculty Professor at Concordia University's John Molson School of Business and teaches "Litigation Management", a full-semester course offered exclusively to MBA students.

Mr. Urbas served as a member of INTA's Internet Committee as well as INTA's Canadian Legislation Sub-Committee. His interest in the law reaches back to his studies at McGill University during which time he was a senior editorial board member on the McGill Law Journal (Volume 36) and an associate board member (Volume 35).
