Ruth A. Urbantke joined Nevada Power in August 1992 as an Accountant II in General Accounting.She was promoted to Director of Investor and Shareholder Relations in January 1994, and held this position until September 1997 when she joined the Industry Restructuring Team.In 1998, as a result of the merger with Sierra Pacific Resources, Urbantke was asked to lead NPC's Generation Divestiture initiative as the Project Director.In October 1999, she accepted the position of Director of Business Services, which encompassed both NPC's and SPPC's distribution areas.In 2000 she led the implementation of the Global Settlement and later acquired responsibilities over the Company's Customer Choice department.Urbantke was promoted to her present position as the Director of Internal Audit for Sierra Pacific Resources in May 2001.Her prior experiences include four years in public accounting, eight years in credit and collection for a medical book publisher and five years with an automobile dealership.
EDUCATION Urbantke is a Certified Public Accountant.She graduated from the University of Missouri-St.Louis in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting.
ORGANIZATIONSUrbantke is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors and serves on the IIA-Las Vegas Chapter's Board.She is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the EEI Internal Auditing Committee.
Urbantke is a very active Board of Trustees member for the non-profit organization, HELP of Southern Nevada.She is also a 2002 graduate of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program.Urbantke is committed to improving her community through volunteer service - one act of kindness at a time.
INTERESTSUrbantke and her husband, Gary, enjoy traveling, relaxing at their mountain getaway in Southern Utah, and watching ice hockey.
