    Steven Clugston, who served as assistant superintendent for the Needville Independent School District, will replace longtime Superintendent Ronnie Urbantke, who is retiring.

    Riesel has been searching for a new superintendent with the assistance of the Texas Association of School Boards since Urbantke announced his retirement plans in June.TASB consultants in September met with administrators, staff, students and community groups to prepare for the search and developed a profile the district used to evaluate 40 applicants.

    Needville, which is located south of Houston in Fort Bend County, is a Class 3A district and has been rated ,recognized, by the Texas Education Agency for four of the past six years.The high school has been rated ,exemplary, for the past four years.

    Under Urbantke, Riesel schools were ranked as ,recognized, by the TEA's accountability system this year.
