Mr. Udel is a senior software developer and consultant for the USGS.His background and education includes a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (Thesis based Concentration: Computer Science, Physical Geography, and Physics "The Application of an Artificial Neural Network to Produce Land Use/Land Cover Maps from Remotely Sensed Imagery."), various programming certifications and certifications in various electronic systems.

His areas of expertise include design, implementation and deployment of pattern recognition systems, geographical information systems, and data storage/analysis systems.

Mr. Udel consults in the implementation, performance analysis and modification of large scale databases, software development, all with an emphasis in object oriented technology and mitigating threat exposure.He has over sixteen years experience in hardware and software engineering, covering areas such as radio frequency electronics, industrial and embedded microprocessor based control systems, system and device level programming, GUI and web site development, and large scale e-commerce and information systems on Microsoft and UNIX operating systems.
