Christopher Turman is Senior Vice President of National Strategies. Over his more than fifteen year career, he has worked in the public policy, political, issue campaign and communications arenas. Prior to joining the staff of National Strategies, he was an independent consultant working with nonprofit organizations and political candidates on fundraising, communications and organization development strategies. In this role, he directed the launch of the Arts Action Fund of Americans for the Arts, a major new initiative to build a movement of supporters of the arts and arts education nationwide. In 2004, Turman was a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in West Virginia’s Second District. From 2000 to 2003, he directed a national education campaign on Social Security reform for the National Council of Women's Organizations (NCWO), the coalition of the nation's leading women's groups. Earlier, he was the Director of Public Policy for Business and Professional Women/USA (BPW/USA). Turman brings political campaign experience as a fundraiser and advisor. He is a past member of the Democratic Seniors Steering and Coordinating Committee of the Democratic National Committee and the National Task Force on Violence Against Women. He has also served as Co-Chair of the National Committee on Pay Equity's Legislative Task Force. Christopher graduated from the George Washington University cum laude in 1994 with a B.A. in political science. He resides in Washington, DC and Moorefield, WV.
