In his presentation, BenQ Director William Tseng underscored some of India's strengths: a mature software industry that has the full backing of the government, and an abundant talent pool.

Tseng described India's workforce as "highly motivated, eager to learn new things," and equipped with good project management skills.

Sasken has been licensing its wireless terminal software solutions to various leading handset designers and manufacturers as well as various semiconductor companies around the world.Sasken's solutions include protocol stacks, multimedia codecs and applications, MMS and testing solutions for wireless terminals.

Under its own brand as well as other brand names, BenQ shipped 7 million handsets in 2001.
