WOBURN, MA, ISSUED FEBRUARY 12, 2001…Noreen Trudel, an Ipswich resident, has been named Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Laserstar, the region's leading provider of OEM-compatible toner cartridges, refurbished office printers and office equipment service, supplies and maintenance.In this role, she will guide the 12-year old company through its next round of growth and development.

Trudel, the original founder of Laserstar, has served the company as Director of Sales and Marketing and, most recently, as President.As CEO, she will also focus on growth strategies, both short and long-term.

Part of management style is mergers and acquisitions

One of the recent steps that the company undertook was the acquisition of a rival firm, Laser Two, which had been located in Burlington, MA. Trudel, with fellow shareholder Paul Mitrano, developed the acquisition strategy that not only added 1000 new accounts to the Laserstar client roster, but brought three key personnel from their former competitor's company into the Laserstar fold.

Trudel said that the company has other expansion plans for 2001 and beyond, including some new divisions and possibly some additional acquisitions.

Trudel is a Woburn native whose entrepreneurial spirit may well have been inherited.

Trudel, prior to Laserstar, sold computer software and supplies both in New England and in Florida.Shortly after earning her Bachelor of Science Degree from Boston University, she worked for a Canton, MA firm that sold IBM based PC clones.Thereafter, she worked with a company that sold proprietary software to dealers throughout Florida.After living in Florida for nearly two years, she returned to New England and helped found the Laserstar concept.

She is a member of the Commonwealth Institute, an organization whose membership includes women CEO's of companies with sales in excess of $1 million annually.She is also a member of the Business Technology Association, as well as the North Suburban Chamber of Commerce.

Trudel resides in Ipswich with her husband, Charlie, and their Golden Retriever, Butch.

Mitrano's dog is a Yellow Labrador named Kayla, and Trudel's is a Golden Retriever named Butch.

Trudel commented, "Paul and I sometimes will bring our dogs to work with us, because we really love animals.And we admire the qualities of the retriever - they're loyal, obedient, and they display a lot of stick-to-it-iveness.Those are exactly the kinds of qualities that we want our Laserstar customers to see in us."She paused, and quipped, "As long as they don't expect us to chase cars."
