It was Sharon Trubitt's first meeting.Trubitt, a retired teacher, moved to Hartsdale from Brewster in October and saw a listing for the Yiddish club in a town brochure.

"This group brings back those childhood memories," she said."It's nice to have a Jewish connection."

Growing up in Chicago, Trubitt said, Yiddish was spoken fluently among her grandmother, her parents and her eight aunts and uncles.She doesn't hold out much hope that the language will last much longer.

"My kids don't speak it," she said.
