Denise Truax, long-time director of Prise de parole, Sudbury's only publisher, was recently presented a national award of distinction by the Fédération culturelle canadienne-française (French-Canadian Cultural Federation) during its 25th anniversary celebration.The Federation presented this award during a special evening held in St-Boniface, Manitoba, on June 15.Denise Truax was presented the 2002 Prix Hommage (Recognition Award) for the 25 years of efforts she has dedicated towards the development of art and culture in French Ontario and French Canada.In 1978, she founded the magazine Liaison and in 1981 she launched the Éditions l'Interligne, a French-language publisher based in Ottawa.In 1991, Ms. Truax was a member of the working group RSVP! that studied the state of the arts and culture in Ontario, was the founder and director of the Regroupement des éditeurs canadiens-français (Association of French-Canadian publishers) from 1991 to 2000, and was President of the Fédération culturelle canadienne-française (French-Canadian Cultural Federation) from 1993 to 1997.
