Julie Trowbridge, MSWJulie Trowbridge received her MSW from Hunter School of Social Work in New York City.After graduation she performed social work and counseling in Tennessee, which is where she got her start working with the Compeer Program in 1986.This was her introduction to clients with serious and persistent mental health problems and the use of volunteers in the field of mental health.She came on board as the Coordinator of the Compeer Program at Bert Nash in April 2003. Trowbridge explains that Compeer became her love because she was impressed by the values that she saw in the clients' lives: the wish to be cared about, to care and to make a meaningful contribution to the community.They wanted friendship and a chance to grow.She also saw great value in the volunteers who come from all walks of life, men and women, young and old, student and employed; all sharing a sense of compassion and wanting to give something to others.
