Gráinne Troute, General Manager Group Services and Human ResourcesGráinne has been appointed General Manager Group Services and Human Resources.Gráinne was previously Managing Director of HR consultancy Right Management, and prior to that, Managing Director of McDonald's Restaurants (New Zealand) Ltd responsible for over 5,000 employees.She joined McDonald's in the early 1990's establishing the Human Resources function, progressing through to Executive Vice-President, and then to Managing Director.Prior to this, she led the HR function for Coopers and Lybrand Auckland (now PwC).In addition to her extensive HR expertise, Gráinne has had wide experience in board and charitable trust governance roles in New Zealand.

Right Management appoints former McDonald's head, Gráinne Troute, as New Zealand Managing Director

Right Management has appointed Gráinne Troute as its Managing Director for New Zealand.The former Managing Director of McDonald's New Zealand, Ms Troute has been chosen for the role on the strength of her background in consulting and human resources, combined with experience in driving a high-growth organisation.

"Right Management is already a highly successful and profitable company, and a leader in the human resources consulting space.My objective is to drive the company's growth in terms of its customer base, profile and brand," Ms Troute said.

Ms Troute's career at McDonald's was characterised by a rapid rise through the ranks from HR Manager, through to Executive Vice-President, to eventually take the top NZ job at the restaurant chain, which employs 6000 staff in 139 restaurants.Before this, she worked as HR Manager at Coopers and Lybrand (now PWC).

Coming to a sector very different to retail food, Ms Troute believes the change is a natural evolution in her career path.

"I would never have joined a competitor within the restaurant industry, because I believe McDonald's is the top of the industry.But I have strong HR and consulting experience, and while at McDonald's I had worked extensively with Right Management as their client.So when the role became available it seemed liked the perfect fit," she said.

People, says Ms Troute, will be at the centre of her management approach.

"Because I have made the transition from HR management to general management I bring a fundamental understanding of, and passion for, the crucial contribution that strategic human capital leadership makes.And importantly, the difference it makes to the top and bottom lines of a successful business.

"A key part of my role is to build, lead and support a team of the best people, and ensure everyone understands the direction of the company and their role in it " Ms Troute said.

Gráinne Troute, General Manager Group Services and Human Resources, says SKYCITY will be particularly busy given tonight's Bledisloe Cup match and it is business as usual.

The written statement of Ms Grainne Troute , Human Resources Manager of McDonald's System of New Zealand refuted Mr Duncan's statement.Ms Troute said that the union only held bargaining authority for 100 out of 5000 McDonald's staff.Yet union organisers were welcome to attend restaurant consultation meetings and some did so.There was a collective process of consultation where by employment packages are agreed and pay and terms of employment have been enhanced.

Returning to Europe , events at the restaurants of McDonald's franchisee in Dublin in 1979 and 1985 before publication of the leaflet were as hard fought as those in Orangeville , Ontario years later.

McDonald's Restaurants (New Zealand) Ltd has appointed Grainne Troute as New Zealand's first female country manager.

Ms. Troute started with the company twelve years ago, setting up the Human Resources department and progressively broadening her role across the organisation, before becoming McDonald's Executive Vice President.

This latest promotion sees Ms. Troute becoming New Zealand Country Manager, effective 1 July.She maintains her role as Chairperson of Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Originally from Ireland, Ms. Troute has a Diploma in Business Management with a major in Human Resources and Industrial Relations.She continued her education in New Zealand, including completing a supplementary Diploma in Human Resources through Massey University.
