Trout was on routine patrol on Aug. 26 when he located an unoccupied, stolen vehicle in the parking lot of the Best Western Hotel, 1501 Freeway Blvd.

Trout kept the vehicle under observation and called local hotels to locate the driver.After several hours, the suspects exited the Best Western and were acting suspiciously.Trout stopped the suspects, identified them, and the male suspects threw narcotics out of his pocket.Trout recovered the key to the vehicle and $1,400 in cash.

Johnson was working at the Best Western and tried to help Trout determine if any resident of the Best Western were involved in the vehicle theft.

Trout was presented with the Chief's Commendation, and Johnson, Pankratz, and Patel received the Citizen's Award.
