Harold Huntzinger , Director of Maintenance , and Tom Troske , Director of Operations and Managing Director , have recently retired from the Salt Lake City Department of Airports.

Tom Troske has been with the Department of Airports for thirty years.During his career , he has served as Engineering Technician , Maintenance Supervisor , Airport Operations Manager Airfield Operations Superintendent and Director of Operations.Since last January , he has been the Managing Director of the department.The Operations Division is in charge of airfield management for three airports , compliance with Federal Aviation Administration ( FAA ) regulations and is the liaison to FAA Air Traffic Control.He oversaw the public safety aspects of airport management including law enforcement and the Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting and emergency management response program.His responsibilities also included the 24-hour Communications Center , parking enforcement , traffic control and ground transportation programs.Tom supervised a 120 member staff and worked very closely with the airport's tenants.
He is the recipient of the first Airport Operations Leadership Award from the FAA's Northwest Mountain Region for the high quality of safety and efficiency at Salt Lake City International Airport and his accomplishments with creating the airport's third air carrier runway in 1995.He also conducted the first FAA airport safety inspection with no discrepancies.Tom developed the Snow Notice to Airmen System that has been adopted nationwide.In 1999 , the Utah Airport Operators Association named him Utah Airport Manager of the Year in conjunction with the Utah Department of Transportation's Division of Aeronautics.
As interim airport director , he led the Department of Airports through a major leadership transition and has been instrumental in forming the new administration.
