"The best way to open doors is through the stomach, through music, through laughter," said William Torres, director of community affairs for The Latin Cultural Diversity Center in Scranton.
Torres and LCDC executive director Pedro Gonzalez drove down to Wilkes-Barre with a small group for the fiesta, and said they like to attend as many Latino events in the region as possible to show support for the growing community.
And, as Gonzales pointed out, the food is great.
He ate a full plate of patel, patelillos, penil and arroz, or, banana leaves wrapped around fillings such as vegetables, meat and vegetable pastries, roast pork and rice.
