"The best way to open doors is through the stomach, through music, through laughter," said William Torres, director of community affairs for The Latin Cultural Diversity Center in Scranton.

Torres and LCDC executive director Pedro Gonzalez drove down to Wilkes-Barre with a small group for the fiesta, and said they like to attend as many Latino events in the region as possible to show support for the growing community. Will Torres, one of the event's chief organizers, said everyone is a kid again on Three Kings Day.

"That is the best feeling anyone can get, to see a kid smile," said Torres of the Latin Cultural Diversity Center.

The event was co-sponsored by the diversity center, United Neighborhood Centers, Latinos Inspired for Empowerment, the Pennsylvania Army National Guard and the University of Scranton.

Torres said sharing the Latino customs with the city teaches people that many of their Christian values are the same.

"We're different, but we're also so similar to each other," he said.
