"I'm very curious to see what the numbers will be," Bill Torres, president of the North Florida Hispanic Association, said.

He admits that some Hispanic residents, especially migrant workers, may shy away from being counted for fear of being deported.

In the morning at the LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library, several speakers including Bob Rackleff, Leon County Board of County Commissioners Vice-Chair and Bill Torres, North Florida Hispanic Association President, discussed the importance of embracing diversity within the community as well as the festivals upcoming events.

Bill Torres has seen the number of Hispanics in Leon County grow steadily in the last decade.

"Ten years ago, I would never hear any Spanish spoken in malls and stores," said Torres, president of the North Florida Hispanic Association.
