Veteran assistant coach Mike Todd is the new head football coach at Tara High , one of several recent local coaching moves.

Todd, 39, spent last season as Tara's offensive coordinator.The 1985 Denham Springs graduate spent 15, years as an assistant at his alma mater before coming to Tara last fall.

"I'm really not going to change a lot," Todd said.

This is the first head coaching job for Todd, a 1990 Southeastern Louisiana University graduate.He was Tara's interim coach in the spring, replacing Vince Dileo, who accepted a job with the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board after just one season at the school.Class 4A Tara finished 2-8 last season.

Todd is hardly the only veteran coach on the move.

Todd has also made some key moves, bringing in former Glen Oaks and Denham Springs head coach Nolan Gill as defensive coordinator.

"That play definitely kind of opened things up for them and we didn't recover," said first-year Tara coach Mike Todd, whose team finished 9-2.

Because his team is a No. 12 seed in 4A, Tara coach Mike Todd doesn't need such a hard sell.Like the others, Todd is stressing execution.
