This wouldn't be the first time Pat Tilley had defied the odds.As a member of the (then) St. Louis Cardinals from 1976-86, Tilleywasn't exactly what one would think of as an NFL wide receiver. He wasn'tbig and tall at 5-10 and 178 pounds but he was talented. It took just onehit for Pat Tilley to know he had made it in the NFL.Against the extra aggressive Oakland Raiders, Tilley ran a crossingpattern, made the catch and was hit by Jack "The Assassin" Tatum."He hit meand knocked me 30 feet," recalls Tilley.

"This was just, plain and simple, a great win for this team," Bossier City Head Coach Pat Tilley said."These players put everything they had on the line out there after a rough start and came back and showed what they are made of."

WR/DB Larry Nixon capped the Battle Wings' comeback with an eight-yard reception with just 23 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, complete with a dive into the end zone from two yards out.The extra point from K Scott Tyner gave the Battle Wings just their second – and final – lead of the game and finished a second half where Bossier City outscored Memphis 34-14.

The game started with a 20-0 Memphis advantage after an opening 10 minutes that made the rest of the night look like it would be an Xplorers' rout.
    ...
"Those stops were key for us," Tilley said."Obviously, we didn't want them to put any more points on the board, but from a psychological standpoint, they were just as big.We went into halftime knowing that if we put some big plays up we could win the football game."
