"Can Do in 02" was the rallying cry that Jayne Tienken brought to the State Advisory Council in her brief tenure as Chair. It is a great loss to the CRB program and to all who knew Jayne personally that she has recently resigned from the Citizen Review Board. Jayne is moving to Montana with her husband Ray to live near their family. She will be greatly missed.
Jayne has been involved in all aspects of the CRB program. She served as a board member in Lane County where her coordinator described her as an excellent board member and a good leader. She always made new board members feel welcome and did a great job of mentoring them in their new assignments. Jayne helped to build a very strong board by modeling thoroughness, commitment and responsibility. She took her role as a board member very seriously. She was always well prepared and attended many training sessions to sharpen her skills and to gain more knowledge about the issues she was presented within reviews. She was very active in recruiting other community members to be board members.
Jayne didn't limit her activities to board meeting days. She always attended quarterly meetings with DHS where she took a strong role in building relationships with the Branch Manager. She served as part of the Lane group. This was a group of board members from Lane County who were concerned about the lack of following through and prosecution in statutory rape cases they were seeing in reviews. Jayne took a very active role in meeting with the district attorney to address these concerns. She volunteered for the local Safety Net group.
She also served on the Regional Advisory Council where she took an active interest in advocating for services to incarcerated parents. Jayne was also selected as Volunteer of the Year for Lane County.
Jayne held the CRB program to the same high standards she expected of herself and of other parties in the child welfare system. She believed that our program needed people who were reliable and responsible. If something was incorrect in the minutes or we did not follow through on an action recommended by the State Advisory Council, Jayne would always be there to follow through and make sure things were corrected and attended to.
Jayne really personifies the spirit of the Citizen Review Board. She is a real believer that a citizen can make a difference. She is tenacious and has a good heart. She will be truly missed. We wish her all the wonderful things in life.

As you read, our energetic Chair of the State Advisory Council, Jayne Tienken, a Lane county board member, has resigned as she is moving to Montana. Jayne has brought new passion to the SAC with her motto for the group "CAN DO IN 02!". She is a great believer in the empowerment of our local volunteers and has spurred the SAC members to new levels of involvement in her own special way (and you KNOW what I mean Jayne!!). We will all miss Jayne very much. She is hoping to connect with the CRB program in Montana and all I have to say is "Lucky them!!". So, an official good-bye and thank you to a great volunteer and a wonderful friend. I will miss you, Jayne!
Special Recognition to Volunteers!
