Nancy Tienhaara
Nancy started her professional life as a policy researcher with several federal government departments, including three years in the House of Commons. Contracting out surveys and reporting on the results turned out to be less demanding than her later job with Dalhousie University managing the field work for a large Maritime survey. The mind-numbing tedium of field paperwork became the inspiration for a computerized data collection package now known as DASH.
Since 1979, Nancy has been responsible for marketing DASH to companies across Canada. During this time, she has remained an active member of PMRS, and in 1995 she coordinated 20 volunteer DASH clients in the first PMRS survey of public attitudes to market research. In the same year, her family and company, DASH Software Ltd., relocated from Toronto to Victoria. -
