Following an extensive interview process with both internal and external candidates, administrators named Wendy Tiemann, currently assistant principal at Bennett Elementary School, the new principal of Vega Elementary School.The position was vacated at the conclusion of the school year following the retirement of Susan Germann.
Ms. Tiemann has served as the assistant principal of Bennett Elementary School for the past year.Bennett Elementary School received a Texas Education Agency (TEA) rating of "Exemplary" in 2004-2005.The 2005-2006 ratings have not yet been released by TEA, but preliminary results show the school is expected to receive the state's highest rating for the second consecutive year.
"I am excited about the opportunity to become a part of the Vega community and be able to build on the positive things already in place," said Tiemann."Vega has a dedicated teaching staff and supportive parents who all want to work together for the benefit of the students.That dedication to student success, and a passion for doing what is best for kids, will be the most important factors as we move forward into the new school year."
