Tibbs and business partner Douglas Rood bought the school building for $410,000 in a sealed bid from the Fayette County Board of Education in May.

Tibbs, MD is Professor of Neurosurgery and Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine.Dr. Tibbs is also the Director of the Spine Center at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.Dr. Tibbs is an Honors graduate of Thomas More College and the University of Kentucky College of Medicine.He joined the University faculty in 1979.Dr. Tibbs has a specialty interest in metastatic cancer of the brain and spine as well as complex spinal disorders.He has published landmark research on surgery for metastatic tumors of the brain in the New England Journal of Medicine and recently published an NIH-funded randomized control study of surgery vs. radiotherapy for metastatic spinal cancer in THE LANCET.Dr. Tibbs has lectured nationally and internationally on these subjects.He is a former President of the Kentucky Neurosurgical Society and Program Director of the Southern Neurosurgical Society.Dr. Tibbs is a native of Kentucky.
