Mr. Sandra Thornton

Mr. Thornton was born in Franklin, Ga. and was a resident of Randolph County.He joined the former Hunters Chapel Methodist Church and later became a member of the Wehadkee Missionary Baptist Church in the Springfield community, where he served as a member of the deacon board.Mr. Thornton was a bus driver for the Randolph County Training School and retired from Wehadkee Yarn Mills in Rock Mills.He was the first black radio announcer to host a Sunday Morning Gospel music radio program on W.E.L.R.He was preceded in death by his parents, Rig and Maggie (Zachary) Thornton.
