Fraser Valley Building Supplies' purchasing manager Randy Thiessen said everything they carry is being made available to the District of Mission and Emergency Social Services, as well as potentially being open 24 hours a day, if required.
Like most others, the business is watching the river and Thiessen said their plans will be enacted based on information received from municipal officials.
The Mission-based business' management has also offered up space in its secured yard if the municipality needs to store extra equipment, he added. The public will also be able to access materials, if needed."This is not just a case of us wanting to sell things," Thiessen noted.
At a recently held staff meeting, approximately 95 per cent of Fraser Valley's staff agreed to be available to help anywhere they might be needed â€" and management has agreed to pay the employees their full wage no matter what they may do, from sandbagging to helping people move.
"We want to be wherever we can help," said Thiessen.
Fraser Valley's desire to help stems from its company policy of striving to be a part of the community, not simply operate within it.
"We elect to participate in the highest level," he said.
