PLANTERSVILLE - Lillian Temple, 84, died Saturday, July 19, 2003, at her residence.She was born Nov. 2, 1918, in the Brewer community, the fourth of seven children of Evie Godfrey and Wilder Davis Walker.She attended Brewer grammar school and graduated from Verona High School in 1938 and from Dewberry Business College in Tupelo in 1940 with an accounting degree.She was married Feb. 1, 1942. to the late Merle W. Temple Sr.She worked for Mississippi Speaker of the House Sam Lumpkin during the 1941 legislative session.She served in the Lee County Welfare Department, the Tax Assessor's Office, Chancery Clerk's Office and the Circuit Court.She had worked five years for the American Finishing Company in Memphis, a contractor for the U.S. Army during World War II.She also had worked at McGaughy's in Tupelo, as a head teller for 14 years with the Citizen's Bank in Tupelo, for North Mississippi Medical Center for 18 years and retiring in 1986 as the hospital's insurance supervisor.She then operated her own childcare business and later as a personal care giver for the elderly and terminally ill.She was a member of the Nettleton United Methodist Church.
