Alessandro Golombiewski Teixeira holds a PhD in Technological and Industrial Competitiveness from the University of Sussex, England, and master's degree in Economy of Latin America from the University of São Paulo.Mr. Teixeira is fluent in English, French, Italian and Spanish.
Mr Teixeira was responsible for structuring and was the first President of the Brazilian Industrial Development Agency, institution in charge of the Brazilian Industrial, Technological and Foreign Trade Policy.From 2003-2007 he was the Executive Secretary of the Industrial, Technological and Foreign Trade National Council.Mr. Teixeira is a leading member of Board of Directors of the National Economic and Social Development Bank (BNDES), the world's largest development bank, with a budget of over US$ 40 billions.Mr Teixeira is also an active board member of the Brazilian Small and Medium Enterprises Association.
Born in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, he was the head of International Affairs, Trade and Investment Promotion Secretariat of that State, before joining the Federal Government in 2003.In that position he was responsible for channeling foreign investment to Rio Grande do Sul and fostering the State's exports.
He has wide international experience, having been a consultant for the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the National Health System (NHS) of the British Government in Business Development, and consultant for the International Academy of Science, in Paris, in Technological Development.He has also taken various academic and private sector positions in Brazil.Mr Teixeira was awarded by the Sassakawa Foundation of Japan with the title "Young Leader".
Besides being the president of Waipa, Mr. Alessandro Teixeira is currently the President of the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil).Teixeira's work in the Agency is reflected in the increased diversity of Brazilian exports and market trade as well as in the establishment of its Investment Area.Apex-Brasil has played a central role for the Brazil's investment inflows records.
