ADAM TEITELBAUM (San Mateo, CA) Adam is the founder of Adam's Organic Coffees in San Francisco, the first all organic coffee company in Northern California. He came to realize that if everyday consumer items could be made with both, sustainability of the planet as well as the bottom line as priorities, this would be a successful business model for the future. In 1998 he co-founded the Organic Coffee Association (ORCA) and his coffee was distributed in 23 western states. Adam's Organic Coffees was acquired by Peerless Coffee and Tea of Oakland, CA in 2002. As a pioneer in the category of organic coffee, and the creator of a blue chip brand, Adam managed the brand for Peerless for several years. Adam sees the solar industry as a potential major source of clean sustainable, and renewable, alternative energy that can contribute to a sustainable bottom line as well as a cleaner planet. Recently, he has been a solar sales consultant with Owens Electric & Solar and Solar City in the Bay Area. He is also involved in establishing a permanent structure for the San Mateo Farmers Market and volunteers at Sustainable San Mateo County, a local non profit.

ORION WALKER (Hopland, CA) Orion is the Events Manager for the Solar Living Institute. At the Solar Living Institute he has expanded professional solar training programs, produced a green career conference and coordinated workshops and booth presence at a variety of solar and sustainability conferences. Previously, Orion helped to launch a green building start-up, traveled and studied extensively in developing countries, and built his own ecologically designed house in Northern California. He holds an MBA in Sustainable Enterprise from Dominican University and a BA in Environmental Studies from Oberlin College.

Adam Teitelbaum, 39, owner of Adam's Organic Coffees in San Francisco, sells his specialty coffees by advertising over the Internet and is rated one of the "top coffee Web sites" by Infoseek, an Internet search engine."E-commerce is here to stay," Teitelbaum says, although he admits, "It will probably never completely replace the ritual of going out for coffee."The relatively low cost of displaying information on the Web gives Teitelbaum a chance to educate customers about the advantages of organic coffees, something he says would be too expensive to do at a retail outlet.Currently, the company does about 5 to 7 percent of its sales over the Internet, Teitelbaum estimates, but he's convinced that sales will continue to grow."I'm now investing in a secure server that will allow people to directly order my coffee through the Web site," he adds.
