    Peter J. Teige

    is Executive VP & Director of Research for The CyberMedia Group.His professional career in market research, industry analysis, and strategic planning spans nearly 20 years, including the last twelve years in the information technology industry.Prior to founding CyberMedia, Mr. Teige was Manager of Market Analysis at Taligent Inc, where he initiated the market research and competitive analysis function and contributed to the early formulation of Taligent's business plan and market strategy.Previously he was Program Manager for Microsystems Research with InfoCorp/Computer Intelligence, covering personal computers, portable computers, technical worksta-tions, and pen-based systems.He was also a co-founder and industry analyst with Dataquest's Personal Computer Industry Service.Prior to that he served as Manager, Computer Market Research for Atari where he was responsible for all strategic and tactical market research on Atari's computer hardware and software.For more than seven years prior to that he was a strategic planner and futurist with SRI International and a founding member of its seminal "Values And LifeStyles" psychographics research program.

    Recognized as an expert on information technology market trends, Mr. Teige has published articles both on research methodologies and on the future of information technology, including an award-winning article published in the 25th anniversary issue of the electronics trade journal, EDN.He has been quoted extensively in the information systems trade press and in such general circulation publications as the Wall Street Journal, Business Week, Time, and Newsweek magazines, and has appeared on national television.The author of numerous reports and newsletters on information technolo-gies and markets he has also presented his research and analysis to a variety of audiences at conferences, seminars, and client briefings.

    A native of the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley, Peter is a graduate of the University of Colorado and holds an M.S. degree in Cybernetic Systems from San Jose State University.

    Peter Teige, Senior Analyst

    Peter Teige has been a high-tech industry analyst and market research professional for nearly 20 years.His primary focus is on personal information technologies and services.

    While a graduate student at San Jose State University, he helped launch SRI International's Values and Lifestyles (VALS) program, a groundbreaking consumer psychographic research and analysis service.He was also involved in numerous long-range planning and forecasting studies as a member of SRI's futurist group.

    Peter's first involvement with high-tech consumer research came as manager of personal computer research for video game and home computing pioneer, Atari.Next, he helped found the original personal computer service for high-tech research firm, Dataquest, and became its first mobile computing industry analyst.He continued researching this industry as a program manager with InfoCorp, at that time a part of Gartner Group, where he covered mobile devices, technical workstations, and enabling component technologies.He then went on to develop the market analysis function for newly formed Taligent, the Apple-IBM joint venture created in the early '90s to commercialize Apple's object-oriented operating system technology.

    In the mid-90s, Peter established an independent practice in market research, analysis, and market strategy consulting focusing on various IT-related areas including e-commerce, content publishing, and multimedia.He also served as senior editor of MobileLetter, the leading industry newsletter for the mobile computing and communications industry, and as research associate for its publisher, the mobile industry consulting firm, MobileInsights.

    Peter joined Survey.com in June 2000 to develop eResearch programs on personal information access products and services.
