The Yale coach, who was offered reassignment within the athletic department March 29, picked up his final victory March 4 in the longest game in NCAA men's history.
The 3-2 win over Union lasted 141:35, and sent the Bulldogs to the ECACHL quarterfinals - where they fell to Dartmouth March 11.
Taylor spent 28 seasons at Yale over 30 years, taking two leaves of absence to coach U.S. Olympic Teams.During that time, he compiled a 337-433-55 record and coached all six of the school's Hobey Baker Award finalists.
Taylor has coached 825 games, more than anyone in the history of the ECACHL, and holds the Yale record for victories.He led the Bulldogs to 19 ECACHL playoff appearances and two 20-win seasons and earned national coach of the year honors after the 1997-98 season, when the Bulldogs won the conference regular-season crown and earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament.Taylor also won three conference coach of the year awards and six Ivy League titles.
