Tevis Taylor, a sales executive with Xerox who works from her home office in O'Fallon, Ill., has been on leave from her job since April, volunteering full time with the Delta Child Development Center, a Metro East agency that provides child-care services and education. "I had been volunteering with this organization for about 10 years,"
Taylor said."They needed some help with business management, they wanted someone to write grants for their literacy project, and they also wanted to open up a computer learning center for students, staff and East St. Louis residents."By the time
her nine-month leave ends Dec. 31,
Taylor said,
she will have accomplished all
she set out to do and plans to continue volunteering with the center, teaching a computer class.
Kara Choquette, manager of corporate public relations for Xerox, said Taylor is one of eight people nationwide currently on leave from the company.
