February 15 - Carroll Taylor-Lindoe
Carroll Taylor-Lindoe was born in Calgary in 1948.She was educated there at the Alberta College of Art and has been a practicing artist for thirty-five years and an instructor of art at the post-secondary level for twenty-five years. She has exhibited widely throughout Canada and her work is represented in many public and private collections.
She has worked in many visual art disciplines including sculpture (ceramic, wood, fabric, plaster, mixed media), photography, drawing and painting. Her work has, for the most part, centered on a cluster of themes and approaches to experiences of place, nature and feeling, all mediated through a strong interest in and appreciation for the expressive capabilities of art forms from many times and cultures.Taylor-Lindoe has explored her signature themes at times with representational means and at others, abstractly. Some projects carry political or persuasive intentions, and as such are meaning driven and strategically constructed, and others give the largest share of the working process over to a celebration of the content that can arise out of an artist's intuitive and direct relationship with material, form and experience.
In 2003, Taylor-Lindoe moved to Denman Island where she maintains her studio.
