    Dr. Taylor-King began service at Urban College in May 2003.She came to the College from D'Youville College (Buffalo, New York) where she served as Director of Doctoral Programs; prior to assuming that role, she had served as faculty member and as Chair of the Education Department.Dr. Taylor-King earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education and her master's degree in early childhood education at Arkansas State University.She worked in grants development and administered adult and family-based literacy programs for the economically disadvantaged and homeless and taught courses in reading/literacy development at that institution as well.

    Following her service at Arkansas State University, Dr. Taylor-King served as an education faculty member and Director of Development and Alumni Affairs for the College of Education at the University of Wyoming where she completed her doctor of education degree with a specialization in adult education.Known as a student advocate, Taylor-King has published articles and presented papers in scholarly forums on a variety of education subjects, including several related to problems in literacy development among the impoverished.An active service provider to professional organizations in the education community, Taylor-King has provided expert assistance to and has been a board member of Head Start and Even Start education programs in three different states.

    Dr. Taylor-King served on the executive board of the Wyoming Association for Teacher Education and holds membership in Kappa Delta Pi - an honorary society in education, Phi Delta Kappa - a professional society for educators, and the American Association of University Administrators.Concurrent with her appointment at D'Youville College, Dr. Taylor-King held an adjunct faculty position at Buffalo State University (State University of New York) where she taught in that college's overseas graduate education program; she has taught classes and consulted with P-12 grade school teachers in several different countries in Asia and South America.
