    The Musical Director | Antony Tarlton

    Following violin studies at the Royal Manchester College of Music, Antony Tarlton became a member of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra in June 1970.Since that time he has been primarily an orchestral player, coming to South Wales in 1980 to join the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera where he has been a principal player ever since, leading the orchestra on many occasions.

    His playing extends to chamber music performances and violin and piano recitals with his wife, Sally.He also teaches at University College, Cardiff and at The International sixth-form College of the Atlantic, St Donats.

    He has been conductor of the Dinas Powys Orchestra since January 1993.His first conducting experience was at the age of fifteen when he rehearsed soloists and the chorus from a church choir and put together an orchestra for three performances of Gilbert and Sullivan's operetta ‘Trial by Jury'.In the late 1970's, just before coming to South Wales, Antony became the conductor of the Junior Chamber Orchestra of Chethams' Music School in Manchester.
