Phil Swimley can now say he's seen and done it all.

The man most associated with UC Davis baseball was fittingly inducted into the Aggies' Baseball Hall of Fame in a Jan. 25 ceremony featuring former players, rival coaches and umpires with good one-

liners, all to honor a man best known as "Swim."

He retired after last season with 902 victories in 37 years.

It's interesting to note that Swimley almost became a member of the Sac State family.He was a finalist for the Sac State football post, of all gigs, in 1978, and dearly wanted the job.

Swimley was moved by the tribute.He talked about his career and his wife of 42 years, Marilyn.He said the turnout of well-wishers who crowded Cantina del Cabo in Davis was far greater than he'd ever imagined."I really expected 12 or 15 people to show up."
