Presenter Bio: Mr. Swift has been involved in the BC salmon farming industry for 20 years.He and his wife owned and operated one of the early salmon farms in the Sechelt area in BC and was the first contract grower of Chinook salmon for BC Packers.Bruce completed his M.Sc. in animal breeding from Animal Science at the University of British Columbia in 1991 and formed TRI-GEN Fish Improvement Ltd. with Dr. Ray Peterson (his academic supervisor at UBC).

In 1996, Bruce developed a freshwater facility in Agassiz for the contract rearing of 100 families for an Atlantic salmon selective breeding program.This project led to research and development into aquaponic techniques for nutrient utilization from freshwater salmon effluent water.Bruce and his family now grow Coho salmon, integrated with wasabi and watercress, for the local Vancouver market.
