    Sue Swertfeger has her BSBA in accounting from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia and immediately launched her career at Price Waterhouse where she worked xtensively with healthcare clients.Even through high school and college, Sue worked in physician offices and hospitals learning patient billing and medical records administration.Sue now has over 20 years of experience in financial and opers\ational management to include over 15 years in cost management and strategic business performance.

    After Price Waterhouse, Sue served three years as assistant controller for a national telecommunications company, Tele-Fibernet.In 1989, she took the task of assisting the CFO of Miller Oil Company in reorganizing the finance department.There, she led the implementation of all the company's financial and operational systems.

    In 1992, Sue joined Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Virginia and designed and implemented the first Activity-Based Cost Management program to identify administrative costs and customer profitability.In 1995, Sue joined Owens and Minor, the nation's largest distributor of branded medical and surgical supplies, to develop an activity-based management program.

    As the National Product Marketing Manager, Sue co-authored "CostTrack" which became a featured Harvard case study in many university cost management classes around the country.This program changed the industry's pricing practices with their customers and suppliers.In addition, Sue provided internal and external consulting services to Owens & Minor's fortune 500 supply-chain partners and customers such as Johnson & Johnson, Proctor & Gamble, Tyco, VHA and many of the national integrated healthcare systems.

    In 2004, Sue has focused her career on her own company, Strategy Unlimited, which provides organizations with counsel and services related to strategic management.Quite frequently she guest lectures the MBA students at University of Richmond, Virginia Commonwealth University and Darden School of Business, University of Virginia.Sue currently serves as Chairperson for the University of Richmond's GRAPEVINE business forum and is working with a leading global cost management consortium, CAM-I, to define standards that organizations will use to assess the level of quality of their cost management process.

    Her latest collaboration with CAM-I resulted in a 2004 book called, Activity-Based Cost Management Design Framework: Getting It Right The First Time, which is a tool designed to help organizations mitigate the risk of failure in ABCM implementations.Sue is a widely published and highly requested speaker, facilitator, trainer and collaborator in the strategic and cost management community.
