Sweitzer said they weren't content with just reaching the state tournament.But even with the loss, the Central York coach said it was "an extremely successful season" this year.The Panthers earned a District 3 title in the sport for the first time in school history.

"The success of this season just raises the bar for next year," Sweitzer said.

How high, exactly,

"This team said it right there in that huddle -- they said their goal is to win a state title," Sweitzer said.

Only the YAIAA Division I champion qualifies for the district tournament, and the Central finished ahead of six-time defending champion Dallastown this season to grab the lone spot.

"We've come in second so many times," Sweitzer said.

Sweitzer and Mundy are Central High School graduates, Class of 1993.

"We used to play (against each other) a little bit in high school, and we dated in high school," Sweitzer said."We both went to Penn State, and both found our way to teaching."

Sweitzer is a math teacher at Central Middle School, and Mundy is a Spanish teacher at York Catholic.

Neither originally planned to become a teacher.

Sweitzer earned a degree in finance and worked in the field for a while after graduating from college.
