Calli Sweet, R.D., L.D., recently joined the FHN nutrition education team as an outpatient dietician.

Sweet works primarily with the diabetic education program, but will assist with acute diabetic care as well, including providing information to in-patients on glucose monitoring techniques was well as basic nutrition instruction.

Her main focus, however, will be outpatient education, working with diabetics in the community and providing information and ideas for living healthier lifestyles.Sweet and her partner, Registered Nurse Deborah Williams, teach the Lifeskills class designed to help newly diagnosed patients and those who need general overview about diabetes.

After patients come through the Lifeskills class, Sweet is available for one-on-one counseling.

The next Lifeskills class will be in mid-July.People interested in registering may call Sweet at (815) 599-6253.
