Barbara Sweet Named New Executive Director of the Tri-County United Way
The Board of Directors of the Tri-County United Way has announced the appointment of Barbara Sweet as the new Executive Director.As Executive Director, Ms. Sweet will have responsibilities for all aspects of planning, management and fund-raising for the Tri-County United Way, which funds 20 local non-profit community organizations in Warren, Washington and Northern Saratoga Counties.
Bruce Parsons, President of the Tri-County United Way Board of Directors and Chairman of the Search Committee indicated, "The entire Board of the Tri-County United Way is extremely pleased and excited that we have someone as dynamic and well qualified as Barbara to lead our organization into the future.

A native of Glens Falls, Ms. Sweet comes to the Tri-County United Way with extensive community leadership experience, most recently as the Executive Director of the Westport/Weston Chamber of Commerce in Westport, Connecticut.Prior to that, she served as Director of Government Affairs and Special Projects Manager for the Adirondack Regional Chambers of Commerce.She is a former Executive Director of the New York Blue Line Council, and has served as a Commissioner of the Adirondack Park Agency and a councilperson for the Town of Newcomb.Active in volunteer work, she serves as a Director for the Human Services Council of Mid-Fairfield County, the First Night Westport/Weston, and the Westport Rotary.She is a Director and Chair of the Volunteer Action Center of Mid-Fairfield County.
Ms. Sweet is a past recipient of the Adirondack Park Local Government Review Board, Adirondack Achievement Award, the Citizen of the Year Award of the Adirondack North Country Association and the Adirondack Life Magazine's "Adirondacker of the Year" Award for 1989.
Ms. Sweet will be returning to the North Country area where she owns a home in Queensbury.
