HILLSBORO, Wis. - Eleanor V. Svacina, 75, of Hillsboro passed away Monday, Jan. 19, 2004, at her home, with her loving family beside her.

She was born March 1, 1928, to Bernard and Meta (Wolf) Gross at the family farm in the town of Greenwood, Vernon County, Wis.She grew to adulthood in the Hillsboro area and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1946.

Eleanor was united in marriage Aug. 14, 1954, to Harland O. Johnson in Iowa.

Eleanor was very generous with her time and talents.She enjoyed many activities, including golf, bowling and playing cards.She volunteered at many functions, including Cesky Den, with the Viola Legion Auxiliary, Hillsboro Firemen community functions, St. Joseph's Hospital, and worked on the city of Hillsboro elections board.She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid.

Eleanor had a great love for family and lived for them and always cherished their many annual family vacations up north.Eleanor was also known for helping with many of Arnie's organizations, especially known for being a successful raffle ticket seller for the Lion's Club.
