  LOWELL -- It took a few moments, but Lowell Catholic High School athletic director Mickey Sullivan realized the little guy staring across his desk wasn't an everyday assistant cross country coaching applicant.

  Sullivan: "Where did you run in high school?

  Just as Sullivan began wondering where the interview was going, he looked down on his desk.
  
  "So as he's saying this I start looking at his resume in front of me," Sullivan says.

  "I start to realize I think I have a legitimate hero here who is going to UMass Lowell and willing to work for little pay every day," says Sullivan, who served 28 years in the reserves.
