Mick pursues winning post for Caloundra City Cup
...
Sunshine Coast Turf Club chief executive officer Mick Sullivan was trackside yesterday, to help finalise event preparations after a rain-interrupted week.
Despite the early-week rain, Mr Sullivan said he expected a crowd of more than 8000 today, with local punting on par with the Melbourne Cup.
"On course, I'd expect there will be a couple of million - similar to the Melbourne Cup," he said.

For anyone with a few bucks to invest, Mr Sullivan had his eye on Victorian six-year-old Devastating.
Devastating won last-start at Corbould Park over the same distance as today's main race.

The Sunshine Coast Turf Club has elected not to follow Ipswich's lead and ban under-18s, but Mr Sullivan said the club would still strictly adhere to liquor licensing requirements.
