Stroud said there are pitfalls.If a couple decide to start back at square one, they've wasted time and money.

He also said that in the overwhelming majority of his cases, issues are settled through a series of four-way conferences between the couple and their respective attorneys.

If the husband or wife is unreasonable on any points, he or she faces an order from the judge, as well as the possibility of having to pay the other spouse's attorney's fees.
