In a collaboration with Professor Anthony Strong of King's College Hospital, funded by GSK PLC, Wellcome Trust and EPSRC, he has used this assay to monitor patients both during brain surgery and intensive care monitoring of brain injury patients.The methodologies developed as part of this work are now part of an international study to examine the effects of transient brain depolarisation ( www.cosbidd.org ).This model system holds valuable promise for other pharmacodynamic assessments.He is currently investigating the coupling of microdialysis to LC-MS to determine the bioavailability and tissue pharmacokinetics for drugs and their metabolites
